Gold Coast Airport

Gold Coast Airport is situated at Coolangatta on the NSW- Queensland border, south of Brisbane airport. To the west are the McPherson Ranges, and immediately to the east is the Pacific Ocean.

Hours of operation/curfew

There is a curfew that prohibits movements of aircraft above 34,000kg between the hours of 11.00pm and 6.00am (Queensland time).

Runway configuration

Coolangatta’s main runway is 14/32. Runway 17/35 is used mainly for light and some medium aircraft. Coolangatta is served by non-precision approaches.

Traffic

The average daily movements are approximately 200 to 300 a day, but this can vary enormously. About 20 per cent of the movements are medium and heavy regular public transport. There are four flying training schools at Coolangatta.

Noise and Flight Path Monitoring

Noise Monitoring Terminals are located at Tugun and Banora Point.
