New towers Stage 1 – Adelaide
The design is a freestanding structure and will provide a 290-360 degree view towards south west to east west from the cabin to enable line of sight to the existing runway and to make provision for a potential future parallel runway.
Construction on a new air traffic control tower in Adelaide began in August 2010. The new tower is more than twice the height of the current tower, built almost 30 years ago. The new tower is expected to be brought into service in mid-late 2012.
