New towers Stage 1 – Broome
Construction on a combined air traffic control tower and fire station at Broome Airport began in September 2010. It will be the first combined facility of its type in Australia and will ensure the safe management of air traffic in and around the Broome airport
It will bring together Airservices existing aviation fire service with a new air traffic control facility. Airservices will offer a temporary tower service from November 2010 while building works are underway.
The tower will be fitted out with the latest technology and will also include rain water collection for landscape irrigation and vehicle cleaning. The facility is due to be commissioned in mid 2012.
